After numerous teasers, the CT5-V Blackwing has finally shown its face to the public along with its performance specs, and other vital details. The performance sedan’s most crucial component is its powertrain, borrowed from the CTS-V, though with substantial upgrades.

The supercharged 6.2-liter V8 churns out a whopping 668 horsepower (498 kW) and 659 pound-feet (893 newton-meters). This considerable power is enough to take the sedan from zero to 60 mph (96  kph) in only 3.7 seconds on its way to a top speed of around 200 miles per hour (322 kilometers per hour). In other words, the company claims it is the most track-capable V model ever produced by them.

Talking about the powertrain changes, the engineers have installed a bigger supercharger, new pulleys, aluminum cylinder heads, titanium intake valves, and 46-percent better airflow. And for speed enthusiasts, it offers the capability to change gears themselves. The Tremec six-speed manual is standard on both the CT5-V Blackwing and the CT4-V Blackwing, offering facilities like no-lift shift and rev-matching.

Those who love autos can opt for a 10-speed automatic. The automaker confirms that it changes gears quicker than rivals' dual-clutch transmissions. Remarkably, the 3.7-second sprint from 0 to 60 is with the 10-speed auto; the manual is a little slower.
