2022 Chevy Bolt EV Debuts With 259-Mile Range, More Advanced Tech, Less Price
While General Motors cannot take advantage of the federal tax credit anymore, they certainly can lower their EV prices to compete against the likes of Hyundai, Volkswagen, Ford, and others. And they did just that with the 2022 Chevy Bolt EV, which starts at only $31,995. It is a significant drop of $5,500 compared to the ongoing model.
While dropping the price, the automaker ensured they do not downgrade the available facilities for the Bolt. So, they made the interior more comfy and sophisticated. With the old 8.0-inch digital dash cluster, the Bolt now gets a 10.2-inch touchscreen enabling you to use GM’s new infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The wireless charging is optional.
One good thing about the 2022 Chevy Bolt EV is the one-pedal driving, which you can enable by the push of a button. The system employs regenerative braking to halt the vehicle, meaning when you lift your foot off the pedal, the EV will start slowing down automatically. The energy generated through regenerative braking will recharge the battery in the meantime.
The new 2022 Chevy Bolt EV has almost the same size as the outgoing model. It is 69.5-inch wide, 63.4 inches tall, and 163.2 inches long. The trunk space is a little less than before at 16.6 cubic feet. Go for the 60/40 split seats to increase it to 57.0 cubic feet.
Gladly, Chevy did not compromise on the driving range; the new Bolt offers 259 miles of range using a 65.0-kWh battery. The DC fasting charging support of up to 55 kW enables the EV to juice up 100 miles in only 30 seconds, claims the automaker.
With a single motor setup, the 2022 Chevy Bolt EV can create 200 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. The EV is built on the BEV2 electric-vehicle platform and will not use GM’s new Ultium platform. Owners will not be able to enjoy GM's Super Cruise technology either.
The 2022 Chevy Bolt EV should hit the roads in summer in most parts of the world.
