The mid-size luxury sedan G80 gets an all-electric model that looks pretty much like its gas-powered sibling. The first electric model from Hyundai’s luxury brand features a distinct grille that has a charging port behind it. Named the Genesis Electrified G80, it not only has a little lower and narrower grille than the gas model but also sports exclusive wheels.

The automaker didn’t tell all about the drivetrain, but we know that the Electrified G80 will come with a standard all-wheel-drive with an ability to switch between RWD and AWD mechanically. The luxury sedan can generate 365 horsepower (272 kilowatts) and a substantial instant torque of 516 pound-feet (700 Newton-meters). Using a sport mode and the AWD setup, it can hit 60 mph in 4.9 seconds.

Genesis claims the car can deliver 310 miles of range as per global NEDC standard or 265 miles by the Korean standard. And while we do not know the battery size, the automaker said fast charging at 350 kWh enables the car to juice up from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in only 22 minutes. There is also a solar roof that uses the sun's energy to improve efficiency.

On the inside, we find plenty of things similar to the gas model. However, the automaker verifies that they have used plenty of recyclable materials.

Genesis says they will reveal more details on the Electrified G80 later this year, along with information on the company’s first dedicated EV, the GV60 crossover.

The electric G80 should hit the roads in most parts of the world by the end of this year or early next year. The pricing details will be disclosed closer to the launch, and they would be higher than what the gas-powered G80 demands.
