2022 Kia Sedona Minivan May Get Carnival Moniker
It looks like the Kia K5 (née Optima) will not be the only nameplate that will see a name change this year. The Kia Sedona minivan will possibly assume its international name ‘Carnival’ too, as it arrives in the US this year.
We got to know about it through the Sedona forum that leaked the NHTSA VIN decoder document. It is worth noting that Kia uses the Sedona nameplate for Carnival in America since 2002.
According to the document, the redesigned 2022 Kia Carnival will come with some key changes, which are, of course, not official yet. It will be accessible in three trim levels, namely LX, EX, and SX.
The minivan will have a 3.5-liter V-6 engine generating 290 horsepower, powering the front-wheels. Kia introduced the fourth-generation recently, boasting an advanced design and some SUV-Esque styling elements like prominent C-pillar trim and a redesigned center console.
CarandDriver reached out to the company’s spokesperson and asked them to validate the name change rumor. They didn’t get any response yet. However, with the 2022 Kia Carnival expected to go on sale before the end of 2021, we will know about the name change soon.
