Mitsubishi has finally introduced the redesigned 2022 Outlander featuring various significant changes both inside and out. The compact SUV does not only boast exceptional design but is also the first product co-created by Nissan and Mitsubishi.

The 2022 Outlander is built on the same platform and uses the same mill as available in the Nissan Rogue. It now has a unique exterior styling including a prominent grille, various chrome trims, and an exciting lighting pattern featuring daytime running lights, headlights, and fog lights.

Accommodating seven passengers through three rows of seats, the Outlander competes against the likes of Volkswagen Tiguan. However, seeing the photos, we do not think third-row passengers will feel comfortable at the back.

The power comes from a 2.5-liter inline-four generating 181 hp and 181 pound-feet of torque. The engine mates to a continuously variable automatic transmission. While we find the same specs for the Rogue, the Mitsubishi’s offering could be slower owing to its extra weight. In a CarandDriver test, the Rogue went from 0 to 60 mph in 8.2 seconds.

Outlander

The 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander comes standard with a front-wheel-drive while the AWD is optional. A Plug-in hybrid variant will hit the road later down the line.

Mitsubishi has done well in the interior as well by ditching the plasticky materials and low-quality cabin of the outgoing model. Expect an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system (a 9.0-inch screen optional), and most other facilities taken directly from Nissan.

Throw more money to benefit from a head-up display, a power liftgate, various driver-assistance systems, leather seats, and 20-inch wheels.

The 2022 Outlander wears a standard price tag of $26,990, which is $900 more than the outgoing model and is slightly costlier than the Rogue. The pricing details for other variants are not out yet. Expect the deliveries to start in April.
